New BCPS Principals Announced!

Many Burke County Schools will have new leadership beginning next school year (2024-2025). The Burke County Public Schools Facebook page announced the new appointments less than an hour ago, highlighting significant changes in school administration across the district.
According to the release:
- **Jessie Gravel** will move into the Exceptional Children Director position.
- **Antonio Lyerly** will be the principal at Walter Johnson Middle School.
- **Lauren Huffman** will be the principal at North Liberty Middle School.
- **Carla May** will be the principal at Hallyburton Academy.
- **Gretchen Reiss** will be the principal at Patton High School.
- **DJ Carswell** will be the principal at George Hildebrand Elementary.
- **Charles Williams** will be the principal at Draughn High School.
- **Jeff Williams** will be the principal at Valdese Elementary.
- **Anna Moose** will be the principal at East Burke High.
- **Heidi Bristol** will be the principal at Liberty Middle School.
- **Amber Halliburton** will be the principal at Salem Elementary.
- **Tara Tucker** will be the principal at Oak Hill Elementary.
This wave of change is due to numerous retirements and promotions within the Burke County Public School System. The district is undergoing a significant transition as it welcomes new leadership across multiple schools.
